What is School Loop for Parents and Guardians?

School Loop is an online classroom portal for the K-12 school community. It enables members of a school site to communicate and collaborate with one another. As a parent/guardian, once you are registered and approved by the school site, you are able to access important information about your child's assignments, grades, attendance and school-wide events.

Q. What do I need to register for School Loop?

A. You need your child's Student ID number and a valid email address.

Q. When may I register for School Loop?

A. You may register at any time during the academic year. Parents of students who are new to a school site will not be able to register themselves until the first day of school.

Q. Where can I find my student's ID number? 

A. If your child is in elementary school, please contact your school office to find out your child's Student ID number. If your child is is in middle or high school, the Student ID number can be found on a report card, your child's Student ID card, the course schedule, or you can contact your school office.

Q. Are there School Loop parent registration instructions? In what languages?

A. Yes, you can find the School Loop parent registration instructions available in Chinese, Spanish and English by clicking the following links:

Q. How can I find the School Loop login page for my student's school?

A. There are a couple of different ways to get to the page. One way is go to the School Directory section on this page and click the link to see a complete list of schools. Find your school and click the link.

Another way is to go to sfusd.edu and click "Schools" on the left navigation bar. Click the type of school or "All Schools" and then click on your school's link. Look for "School Loop" and click the link next to it.

Q. How do I see my student's grades?

A. After you register, you will be able to see your student's grades once your account has been approved by someone at your school site who can verify that you are your student's legal guardian. This may take up to one week or more, depending on your school site.

Q. My student's attendance information does not show today's attendance. Why?

A. Attendance information is not recorded directly into School Loop. Attendance data is updated nightly. The latest information will be from the day before today.

Q. Can I use my student's login and password to get into School Loop?

A. It is best that you register as yourself, using your real name. Student accounts are slightly different from parent accounts in that they can submit homework via School Loop and have personal lockers to store files. In addition, parents and students cannot LoopMail each other. and vice versa.

Q. Why aren't my student's teachers assigning work and publishing grades on School Loop?

A. School Loop is an optional tool for teachers and staff. Teachers are getting to know this tool better and better all the time, and many are posting assignments and publishing grades.

Q. Why am I no longer receiving a daily homework email or correspondence from my student's teachers and the school site?

A. It is possible that your email client has a spam filter that is directing School Loop emails to the spam folder. Please check this folder and change your filter settings to accept emails from School Loop.
